The 2024 season kicked off in electrifying fashion on Friday night as the Eastern Lions faced off against Manningham United Blues FC at Gardiners Reserve. Under perfect conditions, the freshly prepared pitch looked immaculate, setting the stage for a thrilling contest.

As the sun dipped and the floodlights took over, the energy in the air skyrocketed. Fans were treated to a high-intensity battle packed with skill, speed, and some absolute rockets into the back of the net. The Eastern Lions were down 2 goals, but rallied to deliver a couple of cracking goals that had the home crowd on their feet. But Manningham proved to be just as sharp, matching the intensity and finding the net themselves.

The Lions pushed hard for an equalizer, but Manningham managed to hold on, sealing a narrow 3-2 victory. While the result didn’t go the Lions’ way, their performance was nothing short of electric—showcasing immense talent.
