FAQ – Emergency Dentist in Docklands

I am new to the Docklands area - can I register as a new patient for an emergency?

Sure. You do not need to be an existing patient to book an emergency appointment at MC Dental Docklands. We welcome new patients and can register your details when you call or arrive. If you are relocating to the Docklands area and looking for an ongoing dental provider, we are also accepting new patients for regular care.

How do I get to MC Dental Docklands by public transport?

The clinic is well connected by both tram and train. By tram, alight at stop D1 (Stadium Precinct) on La Trobe Street – the clinic faces La Trobe Street from within the “M” building. By train, exit Southern Cross Station and walk along the footpath beside the NAB building toward Marvel Stadium. Enter the “M” building and follow signage to MC Dental. Journey time from the CBD is typically five to ten minutes on foot or by tram.

Is there free parking near MC Dental Docklands?

There is some metered, time-limited street parking available in the Docklands area, though availability can vary, particularly on weekdays. We recommend checking local parking signs upon arrival.

If you prefer a guaranteed spot, Marvel Stadium Car Park is a short walk from the clinic. MC Dental Docklands patients are eligible for a discounted parking rate – simply ask our reception team for your ticket before leaving. Note that the discount does not apply on event days at Marvel Stadium.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency during my lunch break?

Call us on (03) 8608 8970 as early as possible. Our team will do our best to accommodate same-day appointments. If you are unable to be seen the same day, we can advise you on managing symptoms until your appointment. For acute pain, over-the-counter ibuprofen or paracetamol can provide temporary relief. Do not apply aspirin directly to the tooth or gum tissue.

What if a dental abscess starts over the weekend?

A dental abscess is a bacterial infection that requires prompt treatment. Symptoms include persistent throbbing pain, facial or gum swelling, sensitivity to hot or cold, and sometimes fever. MC Dental Docklands is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am. Call (03) 8608 8970 to arrange an urgent appointment. If you experience significant facial swelling, difficulty swallowing or breathing, or a high fever, go to your nearest hospital emergency department as these may indicate the infection is spreading.

Can I be seen at Docklands if my usual dentist elsewhere is unavailable?

Yes. You do not need a referral or a prior relationship with MC Dental to be seen for an emergency. Our dentists have access to your records from any previous MC Dental visits across our six locations, which can assist in providing continuity of care. If you are coming from another practice entirely, bring any recent X-rays or treatment notes if you have them, though this is not essential for an emergency appointment.
