Dental Health Week is an annual event led by the Australian Dental Association to promote better oral health across the country. Running from August 4 to 10, this year’s focus is all about kids and the key steps that parents and caregivers can take to support a lifetime of healthy smiles.
Every year there is a theme for Dental Health Week and this year’s theme is: “Reach Every S-milestone”, highlighting important oral health milestones for children, from birth through baby teeth and beyond. These milestones include recommendations such as:
- Birth to first tooth: Clean gums with a soft, damp cloth
- First tooth to 18 months: Brush twice daily and take children for their first dental visit.
- 18 months to 6 years: Brush with kids’ fluoride toothpaste and floss between teeth that touch. Have regular dental visits.
- From 6 years old: Use adult fluoride toothpaste. Have regular dental visits.
- From 8 years old: Support children to brush and floss on their own. Have regular dental visits.
At MC Dental, we know how important it is to make dental care a positive experience for little ones. Our friendly team is here to support your family through every S-milestone with gentle care and practical advice.
