In her own words
Becoming a dentist has always been a childhood dream of mine. When I was in year 8, I had to have my own orthodontic treatment which was completed by a female dentist. She was proficient, professional and admirable. I always envisioned a career like her’s.
I’m attentive, gentle, with great attention to detail. I would consider myself a well-rounded general dental practitioner however, my special interest lies in aesthetics. I have been trained to do orthodontics, cosmetic fillers and anti-wrinkle injections.
I’m currently completing a masters in implantology and I’m genuinely excited about growing my own knowledge base so I can deliver higher-level dentistry to our patients with our state-of-the-art technology.
Building a relationship with patients
Patient rapport seems to come naturally to me. My approach is to treat each individual as a friend or family with a dental/oral need. I deal with a range of patients from cosmetic, to paediatric, to the elderly.
I believe that the most important element of a successful dental practice is excellent service and that patient care should be the top priority for all of the team members at MC Dental.
The interaction and experience that patients have with our front desk staff and auxillary staff is pivotal. We pride ourselves with a great team of friendly and helpful individuals.
The importance of good oral health
I wish that more patients understood and appreciated the importance of their oral health.
A good patient is informed, educated and motivated to improve or maintain their oral health. The emotional and anxious patient is often the hardest to work with. But with patience and an extra-gentle approach a lot of dental aversions can be ameliorated.
It is important to treat a patient with accurate diagnosis, careful treatment planning and quality delivery and then pair this with thorough patient education, understanding co-operation and consent.
Although I am treating the patient’s presenting complaint, if possible, I go beyond their expectations in terms of experience and outcome.
I bring proficiency and competency to my job. I also bring a healthy dose of fun and humour.
Good customer service I believe is best reflected in long-lasting patient relationships and their word of mouth of referrals.
The woman outside the dental practice
I like to read, paint, do DIY arts and crafts (including pottery and furniture weaving). Then there’s the other side of me who loves new adventures and social events.
To name a few, I recently attended the Miss Universe State finals event with Sisi as we were invited as sponsors of the event. I tried wakeboarding a couple weekends ago (and got up on the first day!) and have also attended a Rational Luminery event (a dermatologic skincare luncheon), restaurant openings and property group celebrations.
I love acquiring new skills and so became an internationally accredited yoga teacher last year. I hope to maybe obtain my pilot license in the next year or so.
After work and on weekends I like to try out any new culinary flavours that Melbourne has on offer. I also indulge in galleries, hitting the gym and whipping up a healthy meal. Yoga is always a great way to unwind at the end of a busy day or to begin the weekend!
Healthy teeth, healthy body and a healthy life is my mantra!
